JAY, Vermont -- In true Jay Peak fashion, natural snow has begun to accumulate just in time for opening day. The mountain has already been blanketed in snow a few times with more than 30" of early season snow – 17" in October and 14" in November – and with an average of nearly 3 feet of snow through November, there's plenty more to come. So, for the second season in a row, Jay Peak will start turning lifts in advance of its traditional Thanksgiving opening day; the resort plans to open this Saturday, November 22nd.

"We generally get open right after Thanksgiving but we got some snowmaking time in last week and the weather, both natural snow and temps for snowmaking, will let us get a solid early season base down for this weekend," said Steve Wright, VP of Marketing and Sales for the Resort. "Conditions will be good this weekend and early reports are calling for a snowy December so things are lining up well for the holidays."

The resort will offer up to four trails, including both advanced and beginner terrain accessed by three lifts. The Jet Triple will access the Jet and Haynes trails and the Queen's Highway t-bar will be running accessing the Chalet Meadows. The Resort also plans to have the Village Double online and the Chalet Meadows trail open, providing ski-in, ski-out access to guests staying in the condominiums and townhouses in the Village. Jay Peak will be open this weekend from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and lift tickets will be $40 for Adults and $30 for Juniors. Tickets and services will be available on the Stateside of the resort. Jay Peak will be closed Monday through Wednesday of next week and reopen Thanksgiving Day, Thursday November 27th for the season.

Early season packages for the weekend are available from $99/person, which includes one night lodging in the Hotel Jay, 1-day lift ticket, breakfast, and dinner. Packages are based on double occupancy.

As early season conditions continually change, skiers and riders are encouraged to visit www.jaypeakresort.com for the latest updates on conditions and lift ticket prices.
