GILFORD, New Hampshire -- Gunstock has begun to make snow on the evening of Tuesday, November 18th and The Gunstock Freestyle Academy is getting ready for season two. The Academy provides freestyle skiing and snowboarding instruction focusing on safety and fun. Because of Gunstocks convenient location and multiple parks GFA's participants come from all areas of New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. The professional coaching staff works with a variety of individual skill levels and has helped skiers and boarders learn their favorite tricks and advance their individual goals. Coaches are looking forward to the high advancement in skills that year two brings. Last year a dozen skiers and riders participated in the inaugural year.
The Academy meets every Saturday and Sunday from mid December until mid March providing a lot of time for personal growth and freeriding. "My favorite part of the program is the price. It is affordable and focuses on having fun while advancing my sons skills. He would live on the mountain if he could." commented Anne Guyotte, parent of a young snowboarder. Bryce Quigley who participated last year said he had a great time hanging out with friends skiing and learning at the same time. For parents that are looking for a positive learning experience on the mountain The Gunstock Freestyle Academy is an independent not for profit organization run by the parents of the program. Additionally, it give skiers and riders the ability to develop skills in the parks with excellent fun guidance. The goal of the GFA is to offer complimentary programming to the very successful Gunstock Ski Club and Gunstock Nordic Association for families looking for different types of opportunities for their kids.
If you are interested in joining the fun, a registration meeting will be held Saturday, November 22 at 9:30 in the GNA Building(across from the Nordic Center on Area road) at Gunstock. Additional information, photos, and coaches bio's can also be found at www.gunstockfreestyle.com.
