WAITSFIELD, Vermont -- Framed by snow-capped summits and strong expectations for the coming winter, the 29th annual Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale returns to the Mad River Valley on Nov. 15-16, 2008, from 9 am - 3 pm both days.

Held in the heart of Vermont ski country, the Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale is a traditional must-attend event for those seeking the best deals in alpine, nordic, snowboard and ice-skating gear, including boots, helmets, jackets, pants, and kids gear.

On Saturday morning at 9 am, the Sale will open to an expected crowd of more than 2500 eager shoppers, including hundreds who will line up as early as two hours beforehand. The crowd of eager bargain hunters will pour into the gymnasium and classrooms of Waitsfield Elementary School, seeking out the finest deals on new and used equipment.

Sunday is the day for the true bargain hunters, as sellers have the option of lowering their prices by 20% after 11 a.m.

For those looking to sell their gear, the Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale welcomes new and used gear in good condition, checked in at the school between 4 and 7 pm on Friday, Nov. 14. No straight skis will be accepted.

Speeding the drop-off process for sellers, a new pre-registration system is being offered. For the entire week of the sale (Nov. 10-14), sellers can pick up registration tags at Waitsfield Elementary School between 8-9 am. By doing so, sellers can label and price their gear at home, at their leisure, before dropping the gear off on Friday after 4 pm.

For those wishing to donate their gear, consignment check-in is not required, though the PTA reserves the right to turn away unsafe or ancient gear donations. If you have questions about dropoff details, please send an email to info@wesskiskate.com or call us at 802-496-3643.

The Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale is the primary fundraiser for the Waitsfield PTA. The event is staffed by teachers, parents, and community volunteers and supported by sponsorships from Sugarbush Resort and the Mad River Glen ski area. A consignment fee of 20 percent is deducted from all gear sold. Event volunteers are allowed a one-hour shopping head start before the doors open on Saturday. Waitsfield Elementary School is located on Route 100 in Waitsfield.
