FRANCONIA NOTCH, New Hampshire -- The 2007/2008 winter season proved to be a turning point for state-owned Cannon Mountain. A very successful winter, with ample snow and a new management team's infectious energy, resulted in Cannon Mountain once again topping the charts in SKI Magazine's annual Top 50 Resort Guide.

In its October 2008 issue, SKI Magazine named Cannon Mountain among the Top 20 Resorts in the East. SKI Magazine readers like the "reasonable prices," "down-home atmosphere," and "narrow, twisting trails" of Cannon Mountain. The ski area was highlighted among the elite ski areas in North America by being ranked 6th in both Value and Scenery. Cannon Mountain also scored an unprecedented seven top ten Eastern honors in the survey, five of which were among the top three. This impressive list of honors for Cannon included rankings of:
  • #1 in the East for Value
  • #2 in the East for Scenery
  • #2 in the East for Access
  • #3 in the East for Overall Satisfaction
  • #3 in the East for Lifts
  • #5 in the East for Terrain/Challenge
  • #6 in the East for Terrain/Variety
"We're very excited to have improved upon last year's fantastic rankings! We've seen a tremendous positive shift in our momentum over the last fourteen months, and we've worked hard to earn and maintain the loyalty of skiers and riders from all over New England," stated General Manager John DeVivo. "A year ago we joked that these rankings were closely guarded secrets, but the word has gotten out that we're absolutely committed to providing New Hampshire's best experience for skiers and riders of all ages and ability levels. We also scored four top tens in the 2008 SnowEast Magazine survey, including the ranking of 'Number One Classic Resort.'"

Cannon Mountain has 72 trails, 9 lifts, and terrain for all ability levels. Cannon features the largest vertical drop and highest lift-accessed terrain in New Hampshire, and Maine and New Hampshire's only aerial tramway. Cannon is located on I-93 in Franconia Notch State Park. For more information on Cannon Mountain visit www.cannonmt.com or call 603-823-8800.
