Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill Plays Belleayre Festival in Highmount Aug. 23

HIGHMOUNT, New York -- Country Music Hall of Famer Vince Gill brings his hit-filled show to the Belleayre Music Festival in Highmount on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m.

Vince Gill is a multiple Grammy award-winning artist who has sold more than 26 million albums. He has earned 18 Country Music Association awards, including two for Entertainer of the Year and five Male Vocalist Awards. He has also won more Grammy Awards than any other male country music artist with 19. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007.

His high, pure tenor voice and unerring sense of harmony have made him a favorite duet partner with the likes of with a number of popular artists, including Dolly Parton, Alison Krauss and Union Station and Sheryl Crow.

Gill's 4-CD set of 43 new and original songs entitled "These Days," is an artistic tour de force that displays Gill's mastery of lyrics and musical styles, ranging from traditional country and bluegrass to jazz and rock. The release won the 2008 Grammy for Best Country Album.

Gill's star began to rise in 1979 when he became a member of acclaimed Pure Prairie League as lead singer. He recorded three albums with the band, the first of which produced the Top Ten hit "Let Me Love You Tonight" in 1980.

His popularity as the front man for the band led Gill to embark on a solo career. He broke through to mass country and crossover appeal with the 1989 release of "When I Call Your Name." The popularity of the title track established his stardom on the country music scene and hits like "What the Cowgirls Do," "Whenever You Come Around," "Which Bridge to Cross (Which Bridge to Burn)," "You Better Think Twice" and "Go Rest High On That Mountain" have cemented Gill's reputation as one of the top stars of his generation.

Gill co-hosted the CMA Awards for the first time in 1992 and continued to host "Country Music's Biggest Night" for 12 consecutive years, setting a record for the most times anyone has consecutively hosted a televised award show.

Vince Gill's show at Belleayre promises to be a special evening with one of country's music's brightest and most enduring stars. Reserved seating for the Vince Gill show is $75-$45 and lawn seats are $20.

The weekend activities conclude on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. with the presentation of "Kaleidoscope," a free children's classical music experience performed by The Teaching Artists Ensemble of the New York Philharmonic.

Singer/songwriter/Movie and TV Star Chris Isaak closes out the season in high scyle on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m. Reserved $75-$45, $20 lawn.
