BROWNSVILLE, Vermont -- The world's longest two-span covered bridge stands just minutes away from Ascutney Mountain Resort, but guests new to the region could easily pass it by without even knowing. But for those staying at central Vermont's Premier Family Vacation Destination, resort Activities Director Jonathan Robinson will share his insight with guests and point them in the right direction for a tour of the historical and natural beauty of Vermont. Customized, activity-specific brochures are also available for guests to help get them started.

"We created this position so that guests can explore all the activity options they have while staying with us and then choose those that really appeal to them, getting the most out of their Vermont summer vacation" said Steve Plausteiner, owner of the resort. "We've become an anchor for summer visitors with some of Vermont's most interesting attractions within minutes of the resort. By asking Jonathan all the questions before they leave for a day of sight-seeing, guests don't spend all their time trying to research their options. They just choose them based on Jonathan's information and go enjoy." Jonathan hails from nearby Sunapee, NH, and as a local and outdoor recreational enthusiast, he is able to recommend activities to guests based on his own first-hand knowledge and experience.

Some of the attractions Jonathan will tell guests about are just a short drive from Ascutney and include: the Vermont Constitution House; the Cornish/Windsor Bridge - the world's longest two-span covered bridge; the American Precision Museum; Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site; Simon Pearce Glass Blowing; the Montshire Museum of Science; the Vermont Institute of Natural Sciences; Harpoon and Long Trail Breweries; Billings Farm and Museum; plus various antique shops, art galleries, quaint villages and other places of historical interest.

For those seeking a more recreational adventure, Ascutney offers hiking, mountain biking, road biking, tennis and tennis lessons, as well as outdoor and heated indoor swimming pools at the resort. Activities staff can book reservations for guests for: horseback trail rides, golfing tee times, Orvis fishing guides, canoeing and kayaking, hang gliding lessons and other activities, as well as point guests to local swimming holes and out-of-the-way scenic spots to simply sit and relax in the beauty of Vermont.

At the core of "Vermont Summer Adventures" are the home base accommodations: Ascutney's fully-appointed 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom spacious suites and guestrooms in the Resort Village at the base of the ski trails. Each suite is equipped with a full kitchen, dining area, living room with fireplace and private balcony. The suites and guestroom buildings form a u-shape with the Resort Hotel and picturesque pond at its center, an award winning design.
Ascutney Mountain Resort delivers the perfect Vermont Vacation for everyone all year long and is conveniently located just 6 miles off I-91 in central Vermont.
