Chili Challenge Kicks Off Eight Special Event Weekends at Waterville Valley

WATERVILLE VALLEY, New Hampshire -- New Hampshire's Waterville Valley Resort has scheduled another line-up of special event weekends for summer 2008. Just eleven miles off Interstate -93, the resort also serves up golf, tennis, mountain biking, hiking and kids day camp on a daily basis. 10th Annual Chili Challenge
Sunday May 25, 12pm

Waterville Valley area restaurants compete in Town Square for the title of the best chili around! Attendees pay a small fee for sampling and then they can vote for their favorite chili. The event starts at noon, accompanied by an outdoor concert in the gazebo until 3 pm, when the winning chef gets crowned the "King of Chili".

Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks
Friday July 4

Float building, outdoor concerts, hometown parade at 4 pm, and fun for all ages, topped off with a spectacular fireworks display over Corcoran's Pond.

3rd Annual Bluegrass Festival
Saturday, July 19 12-9pm

The Bluegrass Festival is held in Town Square, rain or shine, and is a full day festival starting at noon with various Bluegrass bands, kid's activities, barnyard animals petting area, face painting, and barbeque. Advance purchase admission prices are $10 for ages 18 plus, $6 for teens, and youths are complimentary. Purchase tickets at waterville.com.

9th Annual Chocolate & Jazz
Saturday August 2 6-9pm

It will be a smooth treat for the senses at Town Square. An outdoor twilight concert featuring the smooth sounds of Jazz will accompany a selection of chocolate temptations prepared by Town Square merchants.

Curious George Cottage Family Festival
Saturday & Sunday, August 9-10

The Margaret and H.A. Rey Center is proud to announce the second annual Curious George Cottage Family Festival, offering a full day of activities and events for the whole family. Featuring Curious George Character Lunch, fun family activities, nature walks & hikes, children's games, lobster bake, Curious George Movie viewing, and astronomy & star gazing.

End of Summer Bash & Fireworks
Sunday, August 31 12-9pm

Celebrate the end of a great summer in Waterville Valley! Outdoor concerts 1- 4 pm and 6 - 9 pm, kids games, plus our annual charity Duck Race on Snow's Brook (cash prizes for fastest three ducks!). Fireworks at 9 pm.

19th Annual Chowderfest
Saturday September 27 12pm

Area restaurants bring their chowders to booths at Town Square in hopes of receiving the coveted prize of "Best Tasting Chowder". Admission fee gets guests sample-sized tastes of each chowder, beverage, and a ballot to vote for their favorite concoction. An outdoor concert in the Gazebo accompanies this event, from noon to 3 pm.

Fall Carnival
Saturday & Sunday October 11-12

To complement the brilliant fall foliage, Town Square has scheduled two days of family activities; outdoor concerts, merchant tent sales, carnival rides, and more. BBTS Ski swap Saturday, 5K road race and pie-eating fun on Sunday.
