CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- An historic winter continued at Maine's largest ski resort today, after eight inches of new snow blanketed Sugarloaf last night. The new snow brings the season's total snowfall at the resort to 224 inches.

Sugarloaf is currently the only ski resort still open in the east, and the fresh snow ensures excellent conditions into the month of May.

"We've been extremely fortunate with natural snowfall this season," said Frank Guerriero, Director of Marketing at Sugarloaf. "The 200 plus inches of natural snow plus all of the snow we were able to make early in the season has allowed us to stay open later than any other resort in the east, and this is just sort of icing on the cake."

Sugarloaf plans to remain open until May 4, and will team up with Northern Outdoors to offer its first ever Raft and Ski Weekend, giving guests the opportunity to raft the Dead River on Saturday, May 3, and then ski at Sugarloaf on Sunday, May 4.

Lift tickets are just $39 for adults and young adults, and just $30 for juniors and seniors through the end of the season. Skiers and riders looking to prepare for next season should act fast to purchase a 2008/2009 New England Pass by the April 30 deadline for the best prices and benefits. Passes are available at 1.800.THE.LOAF, or online at sugarloaf.com.

For additional photos of today's snow, please contact Ethan Austin at 207-237-6899.

About the Sugarloaf Resort - Located in Carrabassett Valley, ME, Sugarloaf is recognized as one of the top winter and golf resorts in the world and is home to the only lift-serviced above treeline skiing and riding in the East and one of Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses. Sugarloaf is a member of the Boyne Resorts family of resorts and attractions.
