Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River

Conditions: Several inches of Packed powder over a base of ice and scrape They were advertising packed powder conditions, I don't remember what they said secondary was, if they said anything.

Trip Report: We got up early and headed to the River for some good skiing.

And lo, we looked upon the trails, and traversed the trails, and the trails were very good.

We have been waiting for this all season. When we started skiing, we coukld tell right away that this snow would stay put, for a while anyways. We started with Right Stuff ( a black) and then took Lazy River over to Spruce mountain and headed to Jordan Bowl, doing several nice trails on the way. At Jordan bowl it felt as thought the wind would blow you back up the mountain. We did those three trails five times in aggregate, loving every minute of it. Flying over Excalibur and Rogue Angel, taking alot of natural air as we rolled over the rolls. The wind was a non issue once you got off the lift, this skiing was sweet!!! Then the hunger pangs hit, and we were out of bars in my pocket. So we headed back to Barker on Kansas and chowed and went elsewhere, everywhere for fun.

After about 2:00 the conditions really deteriorated fast. The hard packed scrape and ice were well exposed by the snow being skiied off. When you got to these areas that were heavily used, you basically skated across the ice to the snowpiles, which were probably man made because they really bogged you down. At that point, we decided to call it a great day of skiing and leave.

Our best day out yet.
