JAY, Vermont -- The only Vermont resort to announce skiing and riding into May, Jay Peak, today, makes it official; there will be lift serviced skiing and riding in Vermont into May.

"We've seen what we need to see", offered Bill Stenger, president of the Resort, "We're going for it". Stenger refers to the heavy natural snow falling at the Resort during the first part of the week which added emphasis to the nearly 420" that fell at Jay during the year; the most in eastern North America.

The resort plans to offer skiing and riding for upper intermediate and advanced level skiers and riders this weekend May 3rd and 4th before closing for the season thereafter. Two day lift tickets will be available for $25 out of the Stateside ticket offices. A BBQ, music and partly sunny skies are all planned.

Keeping step with the Resort's bent toward supporting local organizations and outfits first, Jay Peak will be donating a portion of lift ticket sales to the Jay and North Troy Little Leagues. These leagues offer summer baseball to hundreds of area kids and will use the funds to buy uniforms, pay umpires and maintain fields.

"We don't make a million dollars by offering late season lift-serviced access to our terrain," continued Stenger, "but we feel we owe it to our Season Pass holders and die-hard regional skiers and riders who make up such a big percentage of our guest profile; plus, it's a nice way to raise money for our local little leaguers and support our community."

More information is available at jaypeakresort.com and lodging packages are available from just $99 for those who want to spend the weekend.
