CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine -- Sugarloaf, Maine's premier ski and golf resort, has teamed up with Northern Outdoors to offer skiers and paddlers a unique opportunity to experience two seasons in the same weekend with the first ever "Raft and Ski" weekend, May 3-4.

Adventure seekers eager for spring but still embracing this year's extraordinary winter snowfall can have the best of both worlds for one weekend in May, with both resorts offering discounted rates for guests who raft on Saturday and ski on Sunday.

"It's not often that you're able to raft and ski in the same weekend," said Frank Guerriero, Director of Marketing at Sugarloaf. "With well over 200 inches of snow this season we've been able to remain open later than any other resort in Maine, and we're excited to be able to offer our guests this experience."

The 2008 whitewater rafting season will officially begin on May 3 with the first of 10 dam releases on the Dead River this summer. Normally priced at $59, Northern Outdoors will offer trips down the Dead for $49 when combined with a day of skiing at Sugarloaf.

May 4 will be the final day of skiing and riding at Sugarloaf for the 2008 season, and with 216 inches of snowfall this winter, guests will find excellent spring skiing conditions. Lift tickets will be available for just $39 when coupled with a rafting trip the day before.

"This truly is a unique opportunity. The ability to ski and raft Maine in the same weekend only happens once in a very long while," said Russell Walters, president of Northern Outdoors. "Everyone who takes advantage of this deal will really have something to talk about around the water cooler on Monday morning."

End of season lodging deals are available. Please visit www.sugarloaf.com and www.NorthernOutdoors.com for lodging rates and additional information.
