Sugarloaf Tops 100 Inches of Snow this Season

More than 15 inches of snow fell overnight Tuesday bringing the weekly snow total to 32 inches. As a result of the copious amounts of snow, combined with non stop snowmaking, Sugarloaf anticipates opening trails in the Front Face Snowfields as early as this weekend. Snowmaking will continue through the weekend on White Nitro in the center of the Front Face. The above treeline trail offers one of the steepest pitches on the mountain and unobstructed views that extend across Maine and beyond. Tuesday's snow is also to credit with opening as many as 118 of Sugarloaf's 134 trails, or nearly 90 percent of Sugarloaf's terrain. The new snow comes on the heels of one of the best Decembers in recent history, including a nearly perfect Christmas holiday week. "Snowfall like this puts Maine skiing and riding in the spotlight as a premiere winter destination.
