WAITSFIELD, Vermont -- Less than a month before the doors open at the annual Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale, locals throughout the heart of Vermont's premier ski country start combing last year's 'quiver' to make room for the new gear of 2008.

In a town full of ski and snowboard professionals who regularly clean out their closets, the rewards of the annual Ski & Skate Sale are as predictable as the region's spectacular fall foliage.'' In other words, it's not a matter of 'if' there will be great deals ' but rather 'how big' the deals will be.

"As a local, you always expect great deals from the Ski & Skate Sale," said Mary Simmons, president of the event-hosting Waitsfield PTA. "And as a parent, you're thankful for the ability to outfit an entire family without taking out a loan."

Held in the heart of Vermont ski country, the Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale is a traditional must-attend event for those seeking the best deals in alpine, Nordic, snowboard and ice-skating gear, including boots, helmets, jackets, pants, and kids gear.

The event will be he on Nov. 10-11, 2007, from 9 am - 3 pm both days, at the Waitsfield Elementary School on Route 100 in Waitsfield. For a map to the School, please click here.

Saturday is the day for those seeking the newest gear as items move fast; while Sunday is the day for the true bargain hunters, as sellers have the option of lowering their prices by 20% after 11 a.m. the second day.

For those looking to sell their gear, the Waitsfield Ski & Skate Sale welcomes new and used gear in good condition, checked in at the school between 4 and 7 pm on Friday, Nov. 9. No straight skis will be accepted.

As the primary fundraiser for the Waitsfield PTA, the Ski & Skate Sale is staffed by community volunteers and supported by sponsorships from Sugarbush Resort and the Mad River Glen ski area. A consignment fee of 20 percent is deducted from all gear sold.
