UNH, Attitash & Jackson Ski Touring Foundation to Host 2007 NCAA Ski ChampionshipsMar 2, 2007 - 1:43 PM
"We are excited to be hosting this caliber of race and these athletes for a third time," said John Lowell, managing director of Attitash. "This is a spectacular event and an opportunity to see some of the best competitors in the sport." "It's not only a boost for local business but also for our Valley as a destination," said Janice Crawford, executive director of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce. "For those few days the ski racing nation will be focusing their attention on the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire." The Giant Slalom, March 8 and the Slalom, March 10 will be held on Illusion on the Bear Peak side of the resort. The Nordic events will be held on March 7 and March 9 out of the Jackson Ski Touring Center. Skiers got a preview of the NCAA courses at the UNH Carnival on January 26-27 at Attitash and Jackson Ski Touring Center. UNH will enter the championship coming off a fourth place finish in the recent Eastern Qualifiers held at Middlebury College. Dartmouth College finished first with the University of Vermont and Middlebury College rounding out the top three respectively. Attitash and the Jackson Ski Touring Center previously hosted the NCAA Championships in 1984 and 1995. The University of New Hampshire has been the host school in 1984, 1992 and 1995.
