BARTLETT, New Hampshire -- The nation's finest collegiate ski racers will head to Mount Washington Valley on March 7-10 for the 54th Annual NCAA Ski Championships hosted by the University of New Hampshire and Attitash in Bartlett, New Hampshire. Attitash is the venue for the alpine events and the Jackson Ski Touring Center is the site of the Nordic competitions.

"We are excited to be hosting this caliber of race and these athletes for a third time," said John Lowell, managing director of Attitash. "This is a spectacular event and an opportunity to see some of the best competitors in the sport."

"It's not only a boost for local business but also for our Valley as a destination," said Janice Crawford, executive director of the Mount Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce. "For those few days the ski racing nation will be focusing their attention on the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire."

The Giant Slalom, March 8 and the Slalom, March 10 will be held on Illusion on the Bear Peak side of the resort. The Nordic events will be held on March 7 and March 9 out of the Jackson Ski Touring Center. Skiers got a preview of the NCAA courses at the UNH Carnival on January 26-27 at Attitash and Jackson Ski Touring Center.

UNH will enter the championship coming off a fourth place finish in the recent Eastern Qualifiers held at Middlebury College. Dartmouth College finished first with the University of Vermont and Middlebury College rounding out the top three respectively.

Attitash and the Jackson Ski Touring Center previously hosted the NCAA Championships in 1984 and 1995. The University of New Hampshire has been the host school in 1984, 1992 and 1995.

Lodging packages are available at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel. For more information or reservations call (800) 223-7669.

While in the Mount Washington Valley visitors will find a wide selection of bars and restaurants, local attractions and over 200 tax-free factory outlet stores.

Attitash is in the White Mountains of New Hampshire on Rt. 302 outside of North Conway in Bartlett. During the winter Attitash offers 70 trails representing 22 miles of skiing and riding on 280 acres. In the summer guests can enjoy North America's longest Alpine Slides, waterslides, the Scenic Sky Ride, lift-serviced mountain biking, climbing wall, EuroBungy Trampoline, horseback rides, and skate park.
